Open hearts. Open minds. Open doors.

What to Expect

No matter who you are...

No matter where you come from

No matter what your spiritual journey

Has looked like up to now

You are welcome in this church community...

Following the example of Jesus Christ and with the goal of  "Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors," we welcome with love all persons regardless of race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity to full participation in the life and  ministries of the Florence United Methodist Church.

Worship

With our buildings closed, we offer a recorded worship service each Sunday. A link to this recording is usually posted on Saturday night. On Sundays, members and friends on our email list are invited to join via Zoom a "virtual coffee hour" at 10:45 a.m. If you would like to be on the email list, contact the church at florenceumc@florenceunitedmethodist.org or call 541-997-6025.

Learning

When in-person meetings are once again permitted, Adult Bible study and children's Sunday School are expected to resume. What form this takes will be announced.

Service

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, our 25-year-old ministry, "Free Lunch," has shifted from an eat-in experience to a voucher system offering guests a way to obtain a take-out lunch locally between 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Like God’s grace—there is no charge.

Prayer Shawl Ministry, which met the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays from 10am to noon to knit and crochet prayer shawls, lap blankets and scarves to distribute to those in need of God’s comfort and healing, is on hiatus.

Our recorded Sunday Services usually are under 35 minutes. They include sing-alongs and Scripture readings led by congregation members, a message from the Pastor, and video greetings sent in by congregants. For those without Internet access, a DVD is provided.

Our services typically include readings from the Old and New Testament, and a sermon that helps us understand the true meaning of the Scriptures. With the buildings closed for in-person worship and fellowship, we have instituted a "virtual coffee hour" via Zoom at 10:45 a.m. on Sundays.

If you have any questions, please feel free to give us a call at 541-997-6025 and leave a message. During the lock-down, the telephone is checked daily.

We hope to see you soon!
